Mike has been a church minister for over forty years, in churches in South Africa and the UK. He is passionate about the Bible as God’s true written word, preaching and teaching from the Scriptures, and about the current work of God’s Holy Spirit. Mike has been married to Julie for forty-one years, and is deeply grateful for her partnership in life and in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. Julie has fully shared in Mike’s ministry, and she is also a schoolteacher, who has specialized in working with children with learning difficulties. Mike and Julie have three children and four grandchildren.
Mike loves running, and in the past, he ran many marathons, and ten Comrades marathons. When age and injuries increased, Mike dabbled with a few triathlons. He still runs, rides his bike and swims occasionally.
Mike is passionate about living and sharing the gospel of the kingdom of God. After reading and teaching on the kingdom for many years, Mike became increasingly convinced that there is a fourfold pattern to the kingdom in the Bible. While spending time in Malaysia after his retirement at the end of 2023, Mike felt led to write this ‘Divine design’ book which presents the fourfold pattern of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God in a way which is simple to understand and remember and live out.
